With almost 40 acres just outside of beautiful Bend, Oregon, Tumalo Alpen Ranch LLC supplies premium quality horse hay and retired/trail horse natural boarding services. The semi-arid climate of the High Desert provides moderate temperatures most of the year and 300 days of sunshine!
Constant care and compassion are provided to each and every horse who makes its home on the ranch. Everything possible is done to insure the utmost health and nutrition. The ranch teams with experts from OSU, TID, CSU, Equi-Analytical, School of Ranch, NRCS, Deschutes Soil and Water Conservation District, and Bend Equine Medical Center.
Life on the ranch is calm and comfortable. We offer 4 natural boarding track systems based on "Paddock Paradise". Exercise is also an important part of the horses' care. Large paddocks provide plenty of room to roam and a natural boarding track system encourages movement, relief from boredom, socialization and a natural lifestyle in a domestic environment. Water is in one location while hay and shelter are located in a different locations throughout the ranch. This unique system helps prevent colic and laminitis while improving the hoof and overall health of the horse.
A 3-span Valley pivot keeps the pastures lush and green. The property is used for hay production, lending control over the quality of feed being offered. It is tested so we know exactly what nutrition your horse is getting.
Included in the board is two free horse overnights for your trail horse (when available). You can visit your senior, then saddle up to experience some of the best trail riding Central Oregon has to offer!
Pictures will be provided at move-in, regular updates will be provided monthly, horse kisses will be provided daily.

Amenities:
Tumalo Alpen Ranch is a nearly 40 acre ranch on the corner of Tyler Road and Tumalo Reservoir Road, belonging to the town of Tumalo (Tum-ah-low, as in tummy). "Alpen" (Alps) refers to the snow capped peaks. With 33 acres of irrigated water rights, the property hosts a Valley pivot. Rotational grazing (when available) is done to maintain the healthiest horse and pastures. Each pasture and most paddocks are equipped with Ritchie heated automatic waterers. A grooming area and wash rack are available. The entire property is fenced with an automatic gate at the entrance.
Tumalo Alpen Ranch is one of the few facilities offering the natural boarding of the Paddock Paradise track system. Instead of boarding in a small dry lot, the horses get to move miles each day. The heated waterers are located in the dry lots, while slow feeding is done in multiple locations around the ranch. Obstacles, such as logs, and hard surfaces are added for overall health. Our goal is to provide the best care for your senior horse, so they can enjoy their retirement at the foot of the Cascades. We strive for hay fed, blanket-less horses, who are happy and healthy.
